Associate, Mergers & Acquisitions

The Associate is responsible for evaluating privately held middle market businesses prior to sale. The Associate is the primary contact and key point person with the client. As such, outstanding communication skills are mandatory.

Responsibilities include gathering appropriate financial and market information, recasting the client’s financial statements, performing market research on the client’s industry, markets, and competitors, developing a full income and balance sheet pro form's, and determining the current fair market value of the business. All information is documented in extensive written reports and presented verbally to management and client. A detailed offering memorandum, in preparation to put the client on the market, is also developed.

Career Path: After two years, an Associate may be promoted to Assistant Vice President. The Assistant Vice President is responsible for the actual marketing of the client's business and also continues to value businesses. Vice President and Managing Director are the next levels.

Qualifications:

• MIM/MBA
• Significant course work in accounting and finance
  
• Market research and business writing skills
  
• Two to four years relevant work experience, preferably some in sales
  
• Outstanding communication skills, telephone and presentation
  
• Excellent organizational skills
  
• Bright, energetic, ambitious, have a positive attitude, and be well rounded
  
• Strong client service orientation.
